The highly anticipated third season of the popular anime series “Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World” was recently announced, much to the delight of fans. In celebration of the announcement, light novel illustrator Shinichiro Otsuka created a special commemorative illustration.
For those unfamiliar with the series, “Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World” is based on a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki. The series began serialization on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website back in 2012 and has since been published in print by Media Factory under its MF Bunko J imprint, featuring illustrations by Shinichiro Otsuka.
The anime adaptation of the series premiered its first season in 2016, with a second season airing in 2020. The series has also spawned two movies: “Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World – Memory Snow” in 2018 and “Frozen Bonds” in 2019. In addition, it is part of the “Isekai Quartet” franchise, a crossover anime that brings together characters from various isekai anime series.
Yen Press has licensed the light novels in English and provides a synopsis of the plot, which follows the story of Subaru Natsuki, a young man who is suddenly transported to another world while on his way to the convenience store. In this new world, he encounters various challenges and obstacles, including life-threatening situations, beautiful silver-haired women, and even cat fairies. But his most inconvenient and unique ability is time travel, which requires him to die in order to use it. As he navigates this strange new world, Subaru must find a way to repay those who have saved his life, despite the limitations of his unusual powers.
With the announcement of the third season of “Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World,” fans are eagerly anticipating what new adventures and challenges await Subaru and his companions. The series has already captured the hearts of many with its compelling story, dynamic characters, and stunning animation, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
