Disney marks 10th anniversary of Disney Accelerator with fresh startup cohort

The Walt Disney Company is commemorating the 10th anniversary of its Disney Accelerator program, aimed at fostering the growth of innovative global firms.

In celebration of this milestone, Disney unveiled the five companies joining the 2024 program. These firms share a common goal of harnessing emerging technologies to enhance human creativity and shape the future of media and technology.

Bonnie Rosen, general manager of the Disney Accelerator, emphasized Disney’s longstanding commitment to innovation and technology’s role in storytelling. The 2024 cohort includes:

• AudioShake: An AI-driven audio technology firm enabling interactive, editable, and customizable audio experiences.
• ElevenLabs: A voice AI company developing realistic, versatile, and contextually aware AI audio solutions.
• Nuro: An autonomous vehicle enterprise creating custom electric vehicles for goods delivery.
• PrometheanAI: A provider of virtual world creation tools and digital asset management solutions using natural language prompts.
• StatusPro: An immersive entertainment venture leveraging virtual and augmented reality to deliver first-person sports gaming experiences.

This year’s cohort reflects Disney’s century-long tradition of leveraging technology for storytelling and experiences. Since its inception in 2014, the Disney Accelerator has connected over 60 global companies with Disney’s creative expertise, including industry leaders like Epic Games and Kahoot!. Participating companies receive mentorship from Disney’s senior leadership team, with the program culminating in a Demo Day at The Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California.

Notably, Epic Games stands out as a prime example of the program’s success, with Disney recently announcing a $1.5 billion investment in the company to support the development of a Disney immersive universe akin to a metaverse.
