Dynamite Entertainment is gearing up for NYCC ’23 with exciting announcements, including a new “Lilo & Stitch” comic series. This ongoing series, a first of its kind, features Disney’s beloved characters and is set to debut in January. The creative team behind the comic includes writer Greg Pak and artist Giulia Giacomino.
The series picks up after the events of the iconic 2002 animated film, where Stitch has found his place in Hawaii with his extended family, which includes Lilo, Nani, David, Dr. Jumba, Agent Pleakley, and social worker Cobra Bubbles. With the support of this unique family, Lilo and Stitch are learning to control their sometimes destructive tendencies, embracing a new sense of responsibility. They enjoy the beauty of Hawaii, its sights, sounds, tastes, and waves.
However, a new threat emerges as mysterious giant robots arrive, targeting Stitch for samples of his DNA for their nefarious plans. The story takes readers on a worldwide journey, raising questions about Stitch’s ability to protect his home and loved ones and how he can reunite with his ‘ohana without putting them in danger.
Greg Pak, known for his work on Star Wars, Darth Vader, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Superman, Batman, and more, expressed his excitement about working on this project. Giulia Giacomino, who is making her major interior art debut, handles both line art and colors and is part of Mirka Andolfo’s Arancia Studio.
The series boasts covers by acclaimed artists, including David Nakayama, Joshua Middleton, Jennifer L. Meyer, and Craig Rousseau.
“Lilo & Stitch #1” is set to release in January, and fans can preorder their copies at their local comic shops in November. It will also be available for individual customers through digital platforms like Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more.
