Jujutsu Kaisen fans react to HxH and YYH references in Chapter 224

The world of anime is a realm inhabited by countless legendary writers who have wielded their remarkable creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to give birth to unforgettable masterpieces. Now, in a display of admiration from one legendary writer to another, Gege Akutami seems to have imbued Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224 with references to the works of Yoshihiro Togashi, including the beloved Hunter X Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho.

In the recently unveiled spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224, fans eagerly anticipated the battle between the formidable forces of Gojo and Sukuna. As these two supreme beings of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe clash, employing breathtaking attacks in an attempt to overpower one another, sharp-eyed fans were quick to spot poses and maneuvers that bore striking resemblance to Togashi’s iconic creations.

One particular instance that caught fans’ attention was when Sukuna launched an attack reminiscent of Yusuke Urameshi’s Spirit Gun from Yu Yu Hakusho. Fans well-acquainted with the series recognized the iconic finger-pointing gesture, energy concentration, and subsequent powerful blast that defined Yusuke’s signature move. In the Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers, Gojo launched a massive chunk of a broken bridge towards Sukuna, who effortlessly evaded the attack. Sukuna then retaliated by assuming a gun-like finger pose and uttering the word “Dismantle.” Although Gojo managed to dodge the attack, the ensuing impact was depicted as the crumbling building behind him, nearly sliced in half and on the verge of collapse. It became evident that facing such an attack would have inflicted severe damage upon Gojo.

Shifting focus to Togashi’s Hunter X Hunter, a series even more renowned than Yu Yu Hakusho, fans also discovered a nod to one of the most powerful attacks in Togashi’s arsenal: Gon Freecss’ Jajanken. Gon’s Jajanken, with its three forms—Rock, Paper, and Scissors—represented a culmination of his energy concentration and release. In the midst of the battle within the crumbling building, a moment unfolded where Gojo and Sukuna stood on opposite sides of a door, reminiscent of the iconic face-off between Gon and his opponents. Gojo was seen preparing a punch, much like Gon’s Jajanken, holding it with his other hand in a similar fashion before unleashing a devastating blow. Unfortunately, due to the building collapsing, fans were left without witnessing the full release of Gojo’s powerful attack.

With the release of these intriguing spoilers, it didn’t take long for fans to express their excitement and appreciation for Akutami’s incorporation of references from Togashi’s esteemed works. The leaker, Myamura, astutely commented, “Gege really dedicated an entire chapter fight with Togashi’s Yu Yu Hakusho & Hunter × Hunter references.” However, it wasn’t just the leaker who caught these subtle nods; fans flooded social media platforms, sharing their exhilaration and reactions.

One enthusiastic fan took to Twitter, sharing a picture of Gojo Satoru in a pose reminiscent of Gon and exclaiming, “Give ME ROCKKK,” a popular phrase uttered by Gon before unleashing his Jajanken attack. Another fan joined the discussion by sharing an apt GIF, captioned with “peak recognizes peak,” emphasizing Akutami’s acknowledgment of Togashi’s outstanding work.

The outpouring of enthusiasm from fans extended beyond these initial reactions, with many commending the writer and the recently unveiled spoilers for their inclusion of references to Togashi’s influential creations. Some fans even astutely observed connections to other beloved anime works, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion and Dragon Ball, adding further depth to the appreciation and discussion surrounding these intriguing references within Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224.
