Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the co-creator of the original series, is officially making his return to the beloved cartoon show “Phineas and Ferb.” During the TCA 2023 tour earlier this year, Disney delighted fans with the announcement of the show’s revival, consisting of two additional seasons and a total of 40 new episodes. At the time, it was confirmed that series creator Dan Povenmire would be returning, and now Marsh is joining him in bringing back the magic of the show. In the revival, Marsh will serve as an executive producer and voice director, adding his creative expertise to the project.
“Phineas and Ferb” is an animated series that draws inspiration from Povenmire’s childhood adventures. The story revolves around the titular characters, step-brothers Phineas and Ferb, who embark on imaginative and outlandish projects during their summer vacation. From constructing a rollercoaster to time traveling and planning extraordinary surprises for their parents’ anniversary, the duo’s escapades are filled with humor and creativity. Meanwhile, their sister Candace is determined to catch them in the act. The show also explores the ongoing rivalry between Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry the platypus, along with a delightful collection of catchy tunes. The original series aired for four seasons from 2007 to 2012 and gained a devoted fan base. It also featured special episodes and two movies, with the latest release in 2020.
The talented voice cast includes Vincent Martella and Thomas Brody Sangster as Phineas and Ferb, Ashley Tisdale as Candace, Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher (Phineas’ mother), Richard O’Brien as Lawrence Fletcher (Ferb’s father), and a range of other notable voice actors such as Dan Povenmire, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, Dee Bradley Baker, Alyson Stoner, Maulik Pancholy, and Bobby Gaylor.
Expressing her excitement about Marsh’s return, Meredith Roberts, the executive vice president of Television Animation at Disney Branded Television, released a statement praising Marsh’s creative talent and collaborative spirit. She highlighted his ability to elevate the artistry of those he works with and expressed anticipation for the captivating stories that will be told in the revival. The partnership between Marsh and Disney promises a long and thrilling journey ahead.
While the specific release date for the “Phineas and Ferb” revival has not been announced, it is confirmed that the show will premiere on Disney+. Fans can enjoy the original series, specials, and movies, all of which are currently available for streaming on the platform. Stay tuned for further updates and get ready to dive back into the world of Phineas and Ferb as they embark on new adventures and continue to captivate audiences of all ages.
