Premiere Date Announced for Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ on Disney+

ELEMENTAL, Disney and Pixar’s all-new, original feature film releasing June 16, 2023, features the voices of Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, respectively. In a city where fire-, water-, land-, and air-residents live together, this fiery young woman and go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common. “Elemental” is directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream. © 2022 Disney/Pixar. Disney+ subscribers can look forward to streaming Pixar’s latest animated adventure, “Elemental,” which will be available worldwide on September 13. This digital release follows closely after the film’s theatrical premiere, which took place 89 days prior. In addition to “Elemental,” Disney+ will also launch the making-of documentary, “Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental,” on the same day. Furthermore, subscribers can enjoy the Pixar Animation Studios short film, “Carl’s Date,” featuring the beloved talking dog Dug from the 2009 hit “Up.”

Initially, “Elemental” faced a challenging opening weekend at the box office, marking Pixar’s weakest start to date. However, the film managed to recover and thrive during its theatrical run, accumulating an impressive $153.6 million in domestic earnings and an overall global box office of $480 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

“Elemental” is set in Element City, a place where residents representing the elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air coexist. The film introduces Ember, voiced by Leah Lewis, whose friendship with the cheerful Wade, voiced by Mamoudou Athie, leads her to question her beliefs about their world. Directed by Peter Sohn, produced by Denise Ream, and executive produced by Pete Docter, “Elemental” boasts a screenplay by John Hoberg & Kat Likkel and Brenda Hsueh, with a story created by Sohn, Hoberg & Likkel, and Hsueh.

In the documentary “Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental,” director Peter Sohn explores his family’s journey from Korea to New York. The film delves into his father’s former grocery store located in the Bronx and examines Sohn’s choice of a career in animation over joining the family business.

On the lighter side, “Carl’s Date” offers a humorous look at the character Carl Fredricksen, the elderly protagonist from “Up,” as he reluctantly agrees to go on a date. The short humorously highlights Carl’s struggle with modern dating, with his loyal canine companion Dug stepping in to provide some unconventional advice on making friends. This new short, which initially premiered alongside “Elemental” in theaters, is written and directed by Bob Peterson and produced by Kim Collins.

In addition to the exciting content coming to Disney+, the streaming service has launched a limited-time promotion. From September 6 to September 20, new and returning customers in the United States can subscribe to Disney+ Basic (with ads) for just $1.99 per month for three months, which is a 75% discount from the regular price of $7.99 per month. This promotion coincides with an upcoming price increase for Disney+ Premium (without ads), which is set to rise by 27%, from $10.99 to $13.99 per month for U.S. customers starting on October 12.
