“When the song mentioned ‘Phineas & Ferb are gonna do it all,’ it also included their comeback.
These days, it’s not a matter of if, but when childhood favorites make a revival for streaming services. The latest show to receive a revival is Disney Channel’s Phineas & Ferb. Disney recently announced a 40-episode order for a sequel series split into two seasons. The original series co-creator, Dan Povenmire, is leading the new series, with talks underway to secure fellow co-creator Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. Voice actors Vince Martella (Phineas) and Dee Bradley Baker (Perry the Platypus) confirmed their involvement on social media.
Phineas & Ferb originally premiered in 2007 and followed the adventures of the inventive stepbrothers during their 104 days of summer vacation. The show gained popularity, running until 2015 and spawning two films, a live tour, and a potential third film in production. Phineas & Ferb holds a special place in the hearts of many as a beloved Disney Channel or Disney XD show from their childhood.
After the show ended, Povenmire and Marsh went on to create the sequel show, Milo Murphy’s Law, which featured some characters from Phineas & Ferb. Another series, Hamster & Gretel, set in the same universe and created solely by Povenmire, received a second season renewal alongside the Phineas & Ferb revival. However, a crossover between Hamster & Gretel and the other two shows has not yet occurred.”
