DBS explains Trunks almost destroyed GT’s universe.

Trunks, the half-human/half-Saiyan son of Bulma and Vegeta, is one of the most beloved characters in the Dragon Ball universe. He was first introduced as Future Trunks, a mysterious sword-wielding warrior from a post-apocalyptic future who killed Frieza with ease. Later, fans were introduced to the main timeline version of Trunks, who appeared in Dragon Ball GT. However, despite being a hero, Trunks nearly destroyed the entire universe during his Dragon Ball GT career.

In season 1, episode 22 of Dragon Ball GT, Trunks, Goku, and Pan discover a hidden chamber within the lair of the villainous Dr. Myuu. This chamber contained Dragon Ball GT’s strongest Machine Mutant known as Baby, an immensely powerful entity with the strength to conquer any known planet in existence. At the time, Baby was still an artificial fetus growing inside a tank powered by computers and generators. Trunks had already snuck into the chamber earlier and uploaded a virus into the computer that was designed to keep Baby alive. Unfortunately, Baby proved too strong for the virus, and Trunks’ plan failed, either because he didn’t upload the virus correctly or because it was not powerful enough to stop Baby.

Based on the official Dragon Ball timeline, Dragon Ball Super takes place between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. In Dragon Ball Super chapter 88, Trunks and Goten are teenagers who have committed themselves to being superheroes. When Goten wants to investigate a cybercriminal, Trunks vetoes the mission as it sounds too boring and doesn’t require any physical action. Goten acknowledges that Trunks isn’t good with computers.

This detail from Dragon Ball Super sheds light on Trunks’ failed attempt to stop Baby in Dragon Ball GT. Despite being bad with computers, Trunks tried to stop Baby through the use of a computer virus. However, the virus failed, and Baby woke up, becoming a significant threat to the entire universe. This event could have been prevented if Trunks had used his physical abilities to destroy Baby’s tank instead of relying on his computer skills.

In summary, Trunks, one of the greatest heroes in the Dragon Ball universe, nearly destroyed it during his Dragon Ball GT career. Dragon Ball Super reveals that Trunks struggled with computers, which explains why his attempt to stop Baby with a virus failed, putting the entire universe in danger.
