Even though Fire Force season 3 was officially announced on May 16, 2022, fans have been growing increasingly impatient due to the extended wait without any substantial updates. The anticipation among Fire Force enthusiasts has been building ever since the second season concluded on May 9, 2021, as the story hinted at a major confrontation between the White-clad members and Company 8, setting the stage for an epic battle.

Fortunately, on May 5, 2023, the official website and Twitter handle of the Fire Force anime made an exciting announcement, confirming that Fire Force season 3 is currently in production. This news came as a delightful surprise to every fan eagerly awaiting the next installment. However, despite the confirmation of the third season, the release date has yet to be disclosed, leaving the devoted Fire Force fanbase eagerly awaiting the official green light for its broadcast.

As for the predicted release date of Fire Force season 3, fans can anticipate the series to air sometime in 2024. Considering that production began on May 5, 2023, it is reasonable to assume that Fire Force season 3 will likely premiere in the spring of 2024. However, it’s important to note that this is mere speculation, as the studio behind the series, David Productions, has not confirmed the exact release date at this time.

In terms of the storyline, Fire Force season 3 will continue the narrative from where the second season left off. The final episode of season 2, titled “Signs of Upheaval,” concludes with chapter 174 of Atsushi Ohkubo’s original manga series. While it is not necessary for fans to read chapter 174, as the upcoming events will commence from chapter 175, it can provide a recap of the developments that unfolded in the last episode of season 2.

When it comes to the adaptation of the manga, the first season covered volumes 1 to 11, encompassing 90 chapters. The second season picked up from chapter 91 of volume 11 and continued up to chapter 174 of volume 20. Since volume 20 only has a few chapters remaining, it is expected that the third season will primarily focus on adapting the 21st volume and potentially extend to cover up to volume 30.

For those unfamiliar with Fire Force, the series takes place in a clockwork metropolis called Tokyo, which has been paralyzed by terror. People are spontaneously bursting into flames, possessed by demons, prompting the formation of a special firefighting team known as the Fire Force. These courageous individuals are ready to respond instantly to combat outbreaks of spontaneous combustion throughout the city.

The story follows Shinra, a unique protagonist who possesses the extraordinary ability to run at rocket-like speeds, leaving behind the legendary “devil’s footprints” (and often destroying his shoes in the process). As a new recruit to the Fire Force, Shinra embarks on a mission to uncover the source of this bizarre phenomenon and put a stop to it before the city is consumed by the flames of destruction.
