Good news for Fire Force fans! Season three of the anime is now in production

Fire Force Season Three is currently in production and on its way, bringing more of the post-apocalyptic fire fighting action. Despite its quiet popularity, Fire Force has gained a strong following since its debut in 2019. While it may not receive as much mainstream attention or merchandise, the series has been successful in terms of manga sales and viewership. Given its popularity, it was not surprising to learn that a third season was officially announced.

The official announcement for Season Three was made on May 16th, 2022. However, fans had already anticipated its renewal since May 2021 when Season Two aired. Although the reasons for the delay between the announcement and the start of production in May 2023 are unclear, the recent news confirms that Season Three is now in production. Unfortunately, there is no specific release date or timeframe yet, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.

In terms of storyline, Season One of Fire Force covered volumes one through eleven, equivalent to the first 90 chapters of the manga. Season Two continued from there and adapted up to chapter 174 in volume twenty. Season Three is likely to continue from where Season Two left off and possibly adapt content from up to volume thirty of the manga.

However, as with any production, we will have to wait for further updates to know for certain. Fire Force is set in a world that has suffered a devastating event called the Great Cataclysm, resulting in widespread fires and the destruction of many nations. The survivors have sought refuge in the Tokyo Empire, one of the few remaining habitable places.

In this world, special fire brigades combat cases of spontaneous human combustion and the infernals and demons that arise from it. The characters we follow possess fire-based powers, which they employ to defeat these threats before they can cause more harm. The series incorporates religious groups, conspiracy theories, and a sense of mystery surrounding the true nature of the world and those manipulating it.

Fire Force, created by Atasushi Ohkubo, known for Soul Eater, ran as a manga from September 2015 to February 2022, spanning 34 volumes and 304 chapters. The first two seasons of the anime can be watched on Crunchyroll with both subbed and dubbed options available.
