Renowned Japanese Pro-Cosplayer Reveals Official Inuyasha and Ranma Costumes

In an exciting development for fans of Rumiko Takahashi’s iconic manga series, the upcoming official cosplay book is set to unveil stunning new images featuring renowned Japanese pro-cosplayer Enako donning the costumes of Inuyasha’s Kagome, girl Ranma from Ranma 1/2, and more beloved characters.

Recently unveiled by Mantan Web, these captivating cosplay photos prominently showcase Enako, Japan’s highest-paid professional cosplayer, as she effortlessly brings to life the central protagonists from Inuyasha, Maison Ikkoku, and Ranma 1/2. Alongside her impressive portrayal of Kagome, Enako’s transformations include the female form of Ranma Saotome and the character Kyoko Otonashi from Maison Ikkoku. Additionally, a striking image featuring Enako donning Lum’s signature attire—a tiger-stripe bikini—has also been released. This photobook, a collaboration between Enako and the legendary Rumiko Takahashi, will feature the cosplayer embodying multiple characters from Takahashi’s most beloved series. Furthermore, Enako will portray a brand-new character exclusively designed by Takahashi for this collaboration. Titled “Cosmic World,” the cosplay photobook is slated for release in Japan in September.

Excitement surrounding the book’s release is heightened by the anticipation of the Urusei Yatsura reboot, set to premiere in Japan just a month after the photobook’s launch. Produced by David Production, the renowned studio behind Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, this adaptation of Takahashi’s highly influential sci-fi romantic comedy will be directed by Hideya Takahashi (known for Platinum End) and Yasuhiro Kimura, who helmed Jojo’s Golden Wind season. Spanning four seasons, the new Urusei Yatsura series will adapt select stories from the original manga, which captivated readers from 1978 to 1987.

Enako, a 27-year-old model and streamer, has risen to prominence as one of Japan’s most popular professional cosplayers. Her talent and popularity have led to a reported monthly income exceeding $90,000 USD through paid appearances at anime conventions and other events.

As for Rumiko Takahashi, her name carries immense weight and admiration in the world of manga. With an illustrious career marked by exceptional works like Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, and Inuyasha, she has solidified her status as a legendary manga author. In 2018, Takahashi was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame and officially recognized by the Japanese government for her significant contributions to the country’s arts and culture. Continuously active in her craft, Takahashi is currently engrossed in her latest manga series, the enthralling dark-fantasy adventure known as Mao, which debuted in 2019.

While an international release of the cosplay photobook has not yet been announced, many of Takahashi’s beloved manga titles, including Inuyasha and Mao, are available in English through publisher VIZ Media. As fans eagerly await the release of the photobook and explore the captivating worlds created by Takahashi, the legacy of her influential works continues to thrive both in Japan and beyond.
