The Sailor Moon Cosmos anime film, which will be split into two parts, has announced the cast for the Sailor Starlights characters. The first part will premiere on June 9th and the second on June 30th later this year. The Sailor Starlights cast includes:
Saori Hayami as Taiki Ko (Sailor Star Maker),
Marina Inoue as Seiya Ko (Sailor Star Fighter),
and Ayane Sakura as Yaten Ko (Sailor Star Healer).
The previously announced cast members include :
Kotono Mitsuishi as Sailor Moon/Usagi Tsukino,
Misato Fukuen as Sailor Chibi Moon,
Shizuka Ito as Minako Aino,
Reina Ueda as CereCere,
Kenji Nojima as Mamoru Chiba,
Rina Sato as Rei Hino,
Sayaka Ohara as Michiru Kaio,
and Ami Koshimizu as Makoto Kino.
The film will be animated by Toei Animation and Studio DEEN, directed by Tomoya Takahashi, and the screenplay will be written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. Kazuko Tadano is responsible for the character designs, Yumiko Kuga is the art director, and Yasuharu Takanashi will compose the music.
This upcoming film is a part of the new Sailor Moon Crystal anime adaptation and follows the 2021 Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie. Prior to the films, three seasons were released, including Dark Kingdom (July 2014-January 2015), Black Moon (February 2015-July 2015), and Death Busters (April 2016-June 2016). The Sailor Moon franchise began with a manga by Naoko Takeuchi, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1991 to 1997. The anime adaptation by Toei Animation premiered in 1992 and aired until 1997, with five seasons: Sailor Moon (1992–93), Sailor Moon R (1993–94), Sailor Moon S (1994–95), Sailor Moon SuperS (1995–96), and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (1996–97). The franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022.
